Prada brought her unique signature to another level! Last year, an exclusive and exotic Prada Croco Bag was born from the patchwork of ostrich (struzzo), lizard (luciletto), canvas (canapa) and crocodile skins. It was originally to be an archive piece that was to be kept in a museum in Milan, Italy.
This desirable bag was painstakingly put together with love and took three years to be made from scratch. 3 years. That’s 1095 blood and sweat days!
All the materials were hand cut, dried and stretched by hand. Exotic skins used in Prada are ethically sourced. Usually, genuine crocodile skin would cost S$30,000 and authentic ostrich skin could go up to S$20,000.
Look at how Rihanna rock her Prada shoes and bag! Cool huh? This is how one should pair their Prada with casual dressing.
While this tote is super luxurious, industry experts advise to clash your exotic Prada Croco Bag with your clothes and accessories, and should be worn with a day or flower print dress or jersey top with a skirt.

Chanel has launched their pre-fall collection on 26 Jun 2012. For this collection, Chanel has gone Indian. Karl Lagerfeld has taken his inspiration from the Maharaja influence.
show was held at East india room of Raffles Hotel
can you see the details on the tweed material?
love the intricate accessories
Tried on one of the beautiful piece of accessories. Surprised that it goes with my simple dress
Mikko’s comments:
I have to say i have enjoyed this collection very much. Some pieces are really extravagant and I cannot help but marvelled at the intricate beadings and workmanship on the clothes and accessories presented in in this collection. Enjoyed the show too cos it was done in a very cosy setting. Very limited guests were being invited for each session of the show so that guests can see the clothes on the models really up-close. The full collection is already available at the Chanel Boutiques since last Fri.
Prada fashion event is something that is rare and few. Was really a pleasant surprise when I got invited last week for an exclusive fur and fall/winter 2012 presentation.
The special show was strictly by invitation only. Event was held on 3rd n 4th of may at The Fullerton Hotel, Presidential Suite.
the presidential suite was converted into a warm and cosy boutique space
guests invited for the show were seated on luxurious sofa waiting for the show to start
models in their AW outfits
models in their fur coats
invited guest get to try out all the fur and ming coats. they are even given the priviledge to place an order.
Mikko’s comments: An eye-opener for me. It was a trunk show made exclusive to their invited customers to have a sneak preview of the Autumn winter collection, taken from one country to another, Singapore being their first-stop. There was swatches of all the exotic leather being displayed so that customers were given a chance to choose their bags to the skin and color of their choices. Or even try out the different fur and ming coats. I had to chance to check out the whole 21 colors available in crocs, touched and feel the different types of fur that ranges from fox to chinchilla. (*** I am not into fur n mings***). It was a good private event, whilst it was really up close and personal, I felt it lacked the buzz in bigger fashion shows.
Check out the video i have attached. The fall winter collection has some very nice bags and shoes. Doctor’s bags are a big big thing. Brogue shoes, mary janes with pretty floral designs are to die for. Apparels for the coming collection are very 70s-inspired…. *think geomatric designs**. Expect the fall winter collection to hit the stores here by Jun.
Gucci held their spring summer 2012 fashion show at MOCA @ dempsey just 2 weekends ago. Although held at the same location as the Chanel SS 2012 show, the collection and atmosphere presented by both labels are so different and interesting.
MOCA was already packed to the brim when i arrived.
there was a big turn up at the fashion show
the fashion finally started after a good 30-45mins wait
The inspiration for the Gucci SS 2012 collection…. ” to explore an optical side of femininity by creating a sculptural glamour for the Gucci woman” as stated by Frida Giannini . “Fusing elements from our DNA, from design history, from photography – making them current with a strong sense of personality. Louise Brookes and Nancy Cunard in the images of Man Ray. The opulence of the era of hedonism. Mirror embroidery recalling the skyscrapers of a metropolis. Artisanal working with 3D effect.”
Giannini managed her SS 2012 collection from her Seventies love affair last season to a glossy take on the roaring Twenties.
The finale of fringed gold and black cocktail dresses with Art Deco-inspired beading around their drop waist was something that made me held my breathe. A Gucci jacket (collarless and cropped) looks like a big investment next season too.
Equestrian references were mixed in via frog latches on double-breasted jackets or stripes of ochre down the side of pleat-fronted slacks. Love their collection with the mix of animal prints: black and white giraffe spots merged with leopard and zebra.
Even though the collection was Gucci in predominantly black, white and gold, there was a more light-hearted approach like: a strapless green piece had a strip of gold around the hips above a skirt of black chiffon pleats – sassy and a touch more accessible, you have your choice of pairing it with gorgeous bronze gladiator sandals or the usual killer heels.
Of course there was the old Gucci sex goddess too – in a cutaway black swimsuit, with a transparent waft of chiffon over it that was fringed to the floor, and silky dresses that plunged as low as you can go. An interesting collection for the usual spring summer I have to say..

Last week was a busy week. With quite a few fashion brands launching their spring/summer 2012 collection in Singapore. I was lucky again to have a chance to attend the Chanel SS 2012 which was held at MOCA @ dempsey. Here, i would like to share some pictures for the beautiful collection from Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld. **** warning***** lots of pictures!
this year the style is theme like a underwater world
camwhore 1st while waiting for show to start
n here we go...
lots of white and pastel color for this year's SS collection
personally love this top... may not suit everyone but i think it looks so pretty
my favourite outfit in the whole entire collection. This is a dress about was told it cost $18k cos of the sequins n details on dress.
a very pretty plastic rain coat... but its a chanel.. wonder how much it will cost?
a spectacular show again....
a group pic to end the event
Mikko’s comments: Another wonderful and spectacular collection by karl again this year. Personally, i feel that this is one of his best collection is recent years. Most of the pieces seen on the catwalk is so wearable. I can imagine any ladies wearing those on a day-today basis. Colors are very basic and soft (loads of white and pastels). Love so many of these dresses. There are a lot of details that cannot be seen due to my camera. Glad that they have emulated the show in Paris to Singapore as close as possible. But i have to say MOCA was a little small as compared to the show in Paris. Will hit the shop to check out the collection soon.
Gals, check out the videos for the full collection!
