Motherland of Aesthetics

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the adage goes. But in Gangnam, beauty is in the hands of her plastic surgeons and with a setting amidst upmarket shopping areas, flashing billboards images of women plastic surgery of before and after, it’s never more apt as it’s about style.

According to Korean mythology, Hwanung transformed a bear into a woman and made her his wife. A child by the name of Dangun was born out of this union and later became the founder of Gojosen, Korea’s first kingdom.

Legends and Mythologies have always enthralled and captured the imagination. Tales of the beautiful and the bold from Cleopatra to Helen of Troy have inspired the quest for the elixir of life and the fountain of youth via traditional or modern medicine means.

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons performed more treatments per person in South Korea than in any other country, making Korea arguably the kingdom of plastic surgery.

One in five of South Korean women readily admit to have gone under the knife and in Seoul itself, 20 percent of women between the ages of 19 and 49 have had plastic surgery done.

Whatever the reasons and the driving factor behind this pursuit of enhanced beauty may be subjective but one thing’s for sure, it’s boosting the nation’s economy and image on the global front.

Korea’s Gangnam District has been compared to cities like Beverly Hills, California. Known for its heavy concentration of wealth and high standard living, the affluent southern district is also the hub for medical tourism with surging increase in the number of yearly visitors.

As part of the engine for Korea’s economic growth, Gangnam District was given an award by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for its excellence in medical tourism is set to propel itself as the aesthetics centre in Asia and possibly beyond.

The crew of Aesthetics Hub will be in the motherland of plastic surgery to video document and bring you the scoops of why, how, what and where of plastic surgery and aesthetics procedures.

As Korean music superstar PSY would say, “Oppa Gangnam Style!”

The things about the Skin

You know, the pretty looking lady you’re looking at above with just light makeup is not born like that. (Ok, I know. Thick skin alert. Lol) Those who have read my blog back from my Onsugar days should know that my skin used to be really really horrible.

Just to show you the difference. This was back in 2010, and this is still one of the better ones. I’ve some that shows red angry acne but I’ve decided I shall not put that up. But if you do look at some of my old posts, you might be able to see how bad it really is back then.

When I first started, I gone through the mistake of putting on too much makeup for the sake of covering the flaws. Slowly, I began realizing the fact that a clean canvas is the most important thing. So from makeup, I slowly devote myself to learn more about skincare, how the skin works and what sort of products is suitable for my skin.

My current skincare regime consists of products from various brands. One thing in common, is that they are all mild and suitable for sensitive skin. I’ve learnt that my skin could not take heavy cream products as they will break my skin out. So I’ve been staying to gel/lotion type of products. One personal skincare tip I have to share is to mask every other day! :)

Skin should look good when naked. I’ve always love how my skin is now after removing my makeup. Even if I do breakout once in awhile, I know that I can manage it now.

And of course, with a clean canvas you will definitely look better with makeup. You do not have to cover up so much that you will end of looking cakey or simply having too much on the face. Less is always more.

Let me show you an old photo of mine when my skin just cleared up. Do you notice any difference other then the hairstyle?

As some of you know, I did fillers for my cheeks and nose last July and the photo with bangs is after procedures. Features are definitely more define and smaller face.

With good skincare plus aesthetics to achieve that flawless skin and defined features, you will definitely look good. And of course, makeup will further enhance your overall look!

I’m definitely happy with my current looks. If you noticed, there ain’t much changes. Clearer face, more defined features and of course slimmer as I’ve lost a little weight recently. One can definitely be prettier. You just have to put in the effort!

And of course some help. Check out Myfatpocket and Aesthetics Hub for beauty tips and articles on aesthetics and embark on your journey to find the prettier you!
