July 30th, 2012 My Hair Stylist

Quite a number of people have been asking me where I go to to do my hair recently.

Here it this!
The Lawn
442 Orchard Rd, #02-09
Orchard Hotel Shopping Arcade
Singapore, 238879

Some photos of me cutting my fringe a few weeks back! Thanks to Jon Jon for introducing me to Alex. He’s a really good stylist!

Photobucket

Photobucket
My sister saw my fringe and wanted me to bring her there too. She wanted the full and cute cute type of fringe but her stylist just couldn’t achieve it.

Photobucket

Photobucket
The curls on my hair! Kenneth blew my hair for me while I was waiting for my turn.
It’s so nice but I don’t know how to do it myself.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Alex is so serious.
He told me he keeps a record of what colour (as in the number code foe hair dye etc) his customers did, what processes they did every time his customers visit. So that he knows what they want. That’s really personalized!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Alex and Kenneth!

Photobucket
He say must look handsome….

Photobucket
Thanks Alex! :)

July 27th, 2012 Launch of Pupa Milano’s Revolutionary Mascara Vamp!

Photobucket
I learned a lot makeup tips from PUPA’s international makeup artist, Giorgio Forgani, at this event. Thanks for the invitation!

I actually forgotten to bring my camera that day and had to use my iPhone camera to take the photos. Sigh…

Photobucket
The full range of makeup items that was displayed at the event venue.

Photobucket
New launch from Pupa Milano….Revolutionary Mascara, Vamp!

Giorgio Forgani was really nice and friendly. He offered to put on makeup for some of us just before the event started.

Photobucket
Here’s Giorgio transforming Minru!

Photobucket
And then it was Claire’s turn!
Note the streak of beige Giorgio applied on Claire’s laugh lines. That’s Pupa Milano’s Luminys Touch. It’s one of their star item and I’ll elaborate more on it below.

Photobucket
I love the event venue. It was cosy and the food was superbly good.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Blue mascara!!!

Photobucket
I tried on the blue mascara and it was really pretty! But the colour just won’t show up in the photos! Hahaha…
(looking at my black hair i realized that this post is really backdated… Oops!)

Photobucket
Anyway, Claire was brave enough to apply the teal or turquoise mascara and EVERYONE who talked to her couldn’t resist staring at her eyelashes after that! Captivating…

Photobucket
Giorgo demonstrating makeup on our very own beauty queen, Valerie!

What’s an event without good food. The food there was really yummy.

LUMINYS SILK
SATIN WET&DRY BAKED EYESHADOW
NO. 500

Photobucket
One of Pupa’s best selling eyeshadow in a satin formula. The formula contains extra fine pearls to guarantee an even and flawless, silky result. The colour is intense and the shimmer looked really pretty! It can be used dry, for an elegant and refined effect, and wet to get an intense and magnetic colour. Available in 10 colours.

Photobucket
Colour swatch. Aww.. this photo doesn’t do justice to the colour. It’s really glamourous and intense.

Photobucket
LUMINYS TOUCH
Face Illuminator with Light Effect
This is the product that Giorgio applied on Claire’s laugh lines as shown above.

“An illuminator that is also a concealer, it captures light, giving immediate brightness and glow to those shaded areas of the face. An extraordinary formula with P-LB COMPLEX, that has been studied to combine a flawless make-up result with an effective treatment: a complete beauty action that helps improve face brightness, reducing the appearance of dark circles around the eyes.
MAKE-UP RESULT: The Soft Focus Powders Complex reflects light, for a flawless result. Dark circles and fatigue signs are minimized, face is extraordinarily radiant.
TREATMENT RESULT: “Light” Action”: results show a 4%* increase of face luminosity after 14 days of use°, and a 9%* increase after 28 days of use° “Anti dark circles” action: dark circles look 14%** less evident after 28 days of use° ”

Photobucket
Use it like a concealer, or a highlighter to brighten your face!
Star Product! Recommended.

Photobucket
VAMP! MASCARA
If you want dramatic eyelashes, this is the one to get! For exaggerated eyelashes with an oversize volume! We tried the mascara in black, blue and turquoise! It comes in a total of 6 colours! Suitable also for sensitive eyes and for people who wear contact lenses.

Sexylook has now launched a new mask that’s black in colour!
3 different types of black cotton mask to suit different skin needs.
1) Sexylook Intensive Whitening Black Cotton Mask
2) Sexylook Intensive Moisturizing Black Cotton Mask
3) Sexylook Intensive Repairing Black Cotton Mask

I’ll be doing the review on the Intensive Whitening Black Cotton Mask.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I was very excited to see how the mask looks like since all the masks that I used before were white in colour! Hahaha…

Photobucket
Contains far-infrared releasing effect with activated carbon, this pure cotton mask absorbs dirt, excessive sebum and gives skin continuous nutrients boost with 3X the effectiveness of normal mask. Rich in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidant ocean nurtured black pearl, the mask helps to moisturize and whitens skin.

Photobucket
Ta-da! The black mask.
The mask sheet was soak up with essence and is really cottony soft and thin! It feels really soft to touch!

Photobucket
Its very thin and adheres very very well to my facial contours. I left it on for 20 mins before removing it.

Photobucket
After masking.
(Opps, sorry for the bare, no make-up face! Hahah)

Skin was soft and moisturized, displaying radiance and brightness. I patted and massaged the remaining essence on my face and applied my usual skincare after that. I love how my skin looked after that. When i woke up the next day, my skin felt soft and smooth and there was no dullness, and makeup sits well on my well hydrated skin. Loves!

July 17th, 2012 Event: Make Your Own Havaianas!

Just wrote a birthday shout out to Havaianas for their 50th birthday last week (Read it here!) and headed down to their “Make Your Own Havaianas” last Friday! First MYOH event in Singapore. I was honoured to be invited too and I had lots of fun there.

This personalized fashion affair kicked off with a close door VIP function last Friday, where the h store at Takashimaya B1 was closed from 5pm to 8pm. 100 trade partners, media and bloggers enjoyed the first-hand experience of the MYOH event, which has been successfully popularised in cities like London, New York and Manila.

MYOH event officially opened to the public over the weekend, from 14 – 15 July 2012. The turnout at the store was huge over the 2 days and many queued at the store to personalize their own pair of the pretty and colorful flip-flops.

“There could not have been a better way to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary than to introduce a fresh concept like the Make Your Own Havaianas event to Singapore. Havaianas is more than a flip-flop – it expresses fun and happy fashion with a carefree spirit, and we want to inspire our consumers with these positive brand values through a special customisation event. We are exhilarated and thankful for the love and response we have received through this inaugural engagement. This is not just about designing flip-flops, but also an activity to create beautiful memories with our fans as they join us in celebration of Havaianas 50th birthday,” quipped Rachel Ang, Marketing Manager of Havaianas Singapore.

Here are some photos that I took at the VIP event on Friday!

Photobucket

Photobucket
2 styles for the soles. I chose the slim style which is obviously slimmer. Jon Jon who went with me chose the Top style which is wider and chunkier.

Photobucket
The Slim style. Choose the colour of the sole, the colour of the straps and pins!

Photobucket
The Top style

Photobucket
I chose the Linked Hearts pins! I only took one and got it pinned to the left side only!

Photobucket
Jon Jon chose the Aviator pin. The same one on both sides!

Photobucket
Happy 50th birthday Havaianas!

Photobucket
The cupcakes are so cute! Look at the flip-flops on them!

Photobucket
Ticked my choices on the little booklet and gave it to the friendly staff who helped me put my customized pair of Havaianas together.

Photobucket
Friendly staff customizing my Havaianas for me. Thanks a lot!

Photobucket
Done! I love this light green sole with sliver grey straps! My friend who went down to the shop over the weekend told me that she couldn’t get this colour because it was out of stock. I love it!

Photobucket
Jon Jon and I looking very happy with our complimentary pair of Havaianas! Thank you Havaianas!

Photobucket
And who did I bump into! It’s the very funny Smith!

Photobucket
And the dearest sexy babe Bianca!!!!

Photobucket
Look… ultra fine and thin silk cellulose mask sheet and it is soaked with the essence.

Considering the rate of skin turnover is every 4 weeks, it is the most efficient way to use it for 4 weeks in a row (2 or 3 times per week).

I really love the effects the mask have on my skin. There was immediate improvement on skin’s hydration and my skin felt supple and radiant. After using for a few times over 2 weeks, there was marked improvement in my skin’s condition. It was smooth and moisturize. My dull skin was brighter too! Love it!

LEADERS InSolution Hydrogel Eye Therapy Patch and Pore Clinic Care 2Step Kit

Photobucket
I love this award winning Hydrogel Eye Therapy Patch!

Photobucket

My under-eye condition: Skin has fine lines and is very dry. My dark eye rings are really very bad (I’m known as the Lord of the Rings.. hahaha…) and to add on to it, eyes tends to get puffy when I do not get enough sleep.

Photobucket
A pair of the Hydrogel Eye Therapy Patch that’s hygienically packaged.

Photobucket
The gel patch

The gel eye patch feels cooling and refreshing on the eyes. It soothes my tired eyes and hydrates the skin around it. The fine lines around my eyes lessen after using it and the skin around my eye area is now smooth and bright! I would say that it’s a must buy!

July 12th, 2012 A Day Out to Harry Potter Exhibition

Jon Jon and I woke up a little earlier (eh… hmm… not exactly very early hahaha) to go to Red Star Restaurant (红星酒家)to eat their famous Dim Sum. I always love their Dim Sum since i was young but I find it a little inaccessible without a car. But the good food is worth the trouble!

Photobucket
Red Star Restaurant 红星酒家
Location: Blk 54 Chin Swee Road, #07-23
Daily: 7am–3pm, 6pm–11pm

Took a cab down to the ArtScience Museum for the Harry Potter exhibition and took some photos with the beautifully done up landscape before going in. And what a terrible pity we can’t take photos inside the Harry Potter exhibition!

Photobucket
Got Jon Jon to stand right across the big big dish at MBS and I talked to him. The physics was amazing. I didn’t even have to talk loudly and he could hear me from opposite!

Photobucket
And what else did we buy?

Took photos of our purchase of the Harry Potter hoodies because of the requests to see them on twitter and Facebook!

Photobucket
I prefer black. So I got the black hoodie with all the house crests.
Spot who came to kaypoh while I was taking photo? My darling Kele!!

Photobucket
Jon Jon is a much more colorful person than I am. Red for him. Gryffindor.

He knows that I need a rest and coffee break every now and then and so he took me to Toastbox @ MBS to take a break!

July 11th, 2012 Make Your Own Havianas!

Photobucket

Photobucket

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAVIANAS!!!!!!!!

We all know this big brand but anyone knows how old they are? 50! Wow! That’s quite a bit of history! But, Havaianas signature durable and buttery-soft flip-flops are still to date lovingly made out of a single factory in Brazil with a secret rubber recipe.

Celebrating Havianas 50th birthday, they are launching the inaugural ‘Make Your Own Havaianas’ (MYOH) customisation event for Singapore Havaianistas this July 2012.

I was pretty puzzled over MYOH. But was really excited to try it out when I finally understood the whole concept of it! For the very first time on local shores, I can be as creative as I want to be and design my own Havianas at the MYOH this coming Friday! It can be customize to my own liking! I can choose the colour of the soles, straps and pick my own decorative pins!

I was browsing Havianas’ website when I found a MYOH demo on their US site! Here it is! http://us.havaianas.com/myoh.html

Havianas was inspired by the rice-straw Japanese sandal (Zori), and it has retained the “rice grain” pattern and secret rubber recipe on its sole, yet at the same time coming up with fashionable colours and designs for the consumers.

Photobucket
Love the colours and the comfort!

From press release:
Rachel Ang, Marketing Manager of Havaianas Singapore, is ecstatic about the inaugural launch of MYOH here in Singapore. “Since Havaianas launched its first standalone store in Singapore in 2009, we have undoubtedly grown and successfully established ourselves as a fashion staple of the nation, expanding to five h stores in two years by 2011. Throughout the world, Havaianas has built a special connection with consumers that transcends through different generations. New chapters of Havaianas history are also being written here, with the launch of MYOH in Singapore. In commemoration of the brand’s 50th anniversary this year, we believe it will be highly opportune to introduce the refreshing MYOH concept to fashionistas in Singapore. This unique and never-before experience will allow them to create their very own statement pieces and I’m confident that it will be a hit!” says Rachel.

Spanning across two days, the inaugural MYOH event in Singapore will be held at the Havianas store located at Takashimaya Shopping Centre #B1-38 from 14 - 15 July 2012. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAVIANAS! Looking forward to even more of your trendy and comfortable flip flops!

July 2nd, 2012 Bangkok Trip Day 4 and 5

Highlight for Day 4 was Madame Tussauds! I haven’t been to any of Madame Tussauds exhibition before so I was quite happy to know that it was in BKK at Siam Discovery Center.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Cute decos outside Siam Discovery

And we headed straight to Madame Tussauds!

Photobucket
This is Jon Jon’s favourite… Hahahah…

Photobucket
OMG~~~~~~~~~~

Photobucket
Even Jon Jon look so small~~~

We took lots of photos there. So many that I think that collages are a better idea…

Photobucket

See? I’m performing in BKK…

After Jon Jon took this photo, he asked, “Dear, why are you so drama?”

Photobucket
So funny loh!!! it’s my favourite cartoon character!!!!! At Madame Tussauds????
Doraemon!!!!!

Photobucket
And the main reason I visit this place…. JOHNNY DEPP!!!!!!!!!!!!
<3 <3 <3

Had a lot of fun monkeying around at Madame Tussaud’s. We went for a pizza lunch (not nice at all… sobs..) at Mah Boon Kong and walk around there! We were already quite sick of shopping. Hahaha…

Photobucket
We followed our nose and found a row of shops selling these! It was super yummy! (At Level 4 Ma Boon Kong)
Does anyone know what it’s called?

Photobucket
eggs and salty coconut with cripsy skin. very nice and with many flavors to choose from.

Photobucket

We went back to T & K Seafood (refer to Day 1 post for details ) for dinner. It was that good that we took a cab back there.

Photobucket
Egg Fried Rice

Photobucket
Prawns that are stir fried with eggs and curry powder. I came back and asked my mum if she can cook this for me. Heh!

Photobucket
Veges!

There’s no photos for Day 5 actually! We woke up and had a simple breakfast and headed to the airport to catch our flight! Enjoyed this trip a lot. It was planned in such a way that it’s relaxing every day, with no need to rush to wake up early, or rush to catch anything. We basically listed a few places that we wanted to visit and just travel to where we want to depending on our mood that day since it’s mainly a shopping and eating trip. And thanks Jon Jon for the wonderful company. Looking forward to the next trip already!!!!

July 1st, 2012 Bangkok Trip Day 3

Gonna finish my last 2 posts for my June’s BKK trip by tomorrow so that I can move on to my other reviews and posts! I wanted to combine them into one posts but I think its too long!

Photobucket
A photo before leaving the hotel room!

Photobucket
Walking to get our brunch…passing by Pratunam Market

Photobucket
Famous Wanton Mee… Please do go and try if you are there! and remember to order the pig intestines…

Address:
Soi 19 Petchburi Road,
Pratunam, Bangkok.

It’s just opposite Platinum Mall. There’s another little mall called Shibuya 19 ( and a mcdonalds right in front. you won’t miss it) on Lane 19 and just walk straight in. It’s a little air-conditioned shop on the right side.

We decided to finish the remaining 4 levels of Platinum Mall. We had the best buys that day! Both Jon Jon and I bought a lot of cheap and nice items and we were pretty worried that our luggage might not have enough space. Hahaha…

Photobucket
And as usual, I always need a short break in between all the shopping. I’m never the type that can go on and on without stopping. My shopping stamina is pretty low. To prevent getting a headache or getting exhausted too soon, we must have a coffee break at Black Canyon Coffee at Basement 1 of Platinum Mall!

It was a fruitful shopping day and we bought all the gifts we wanted to buy for our close ones too!

Photobucket
Super adorable dress for my little niece! With Kele on it loh! hahahaha…

Photobucket
We head back to our hotel and went up to the top floor to see the nice view since its the tallest hotel in BKK. Wanted to eat the international buffet there for dinner but we were too early! Hahaha…

Photobucket
Monkeying around at the viewing gallery in the hotel

Photobucket
We went to watch the ladyboy show — Calypso Caberet at Asia Hotel

I made a big boo boo. I planned the trip and booked the tickets for the show in advance. But I was so blur I got the date wrong! I went one day late! Haiyo I’m such a sotong. But the staff there was very nice and helpful. Thery helped me to verify my particulars and my previous online payment and got 2 tickets for me! They didn’t charge me extra at all. It was really nice of them. But of course we had to wait for the later show. And lucky my very nice Jon Jon never scold me, and he wasn’t even angry loh. He was laughing it away and waited for one and half hours together with me at the hotel lobby. We went to shop at Naraya and had coffee at the hotel’s cafe and waited for the next show. Thanks Dear!

Anyway if anyone of you wants to watch the Calypso Caberet you can pre-book the tickets here (http://www.calypsocabaret.com/). Don’t buy there from “agents” or “tour-guides” who claims that they’ll bring you there. You are going to be paying extra for it!!

Photobucket
Very pretty theatre

Photobucket
Didn’t take many pics for the show since the light was low and my little compact cam couldn’t do very much

Photobucket
Photos with the ladyboys after the show!
Of course must give tips loh… hahaha…

Photobucket
The “lady” is not a ladyboy at all. He’s a true blue man! He’s was so funny in the show and made everyone laughed so hard.

I wouldn’t say the show is fantastic but it was pretty entertaining. And the ladyboys were really beautiful and well-groomed. They were so womanly that I felt like a little child beside them!

We took a cab back to our hotel since we were still full from the coffee and cake at the hotel cafe. But then, the moment we finished showering. Both of us were screaming for food…*Irritating couple* Wahahaha…

So what to do when you are too lazy?………………”Hello? Is this room service?”

Ordered Thai Green Curry and white rice.
Both of us can’t really take spicy food. But this was exciting. I was perspiring and drinking, and my nose were all runny from eating the spicy green curry. So was Jon Jon. And we were wondering why the hell are we torturing ourselves like that. Hahahah…

Lucky we ordered 2 young coconuts to cool ourselves down!
