Archive for December, 2010
2010 had been a dramatic year for me. Lots of highs and plenty of lows too, but optimistic as I am, I’m keeping the good and throwing the bad and welcoming 2011, hoping for the best to come. 2011 is gonna be a year full of big changes and I’m a little scared, a little excited about it…
So now its the time for resolutions and wishes!
1) Work hard… Work very hard!
2) Eat healthier and start exercising so that I’ll be stronger!
There are so many little things that I think I should put down as resolutions but I decided to just put these 2 instead since they are my main concerns.
And my wish for the new year? MAY MY BRACES NOT HURT SO MUCH AND MY TEETH STRAIGHTEN OUT REALLY FAST! (its feeling sore now so Its the most pressing issue to me now… hahahahah!)
Of course, I pray for the best for my family and friends and may everyone live in bliss and happiness in the company of their loved ones!
I’ll end with some photos that I’ve just uploaded from the last few days of 2010!
With dearest Celeste that we haven’t met up for the longest time! We promised each other more more more meet-ups next year! And yes… I have her entire schedule in my phone… I know her timings better than I know my bf’s….
Jez!! I was telling him in Bangkok, that the most random thing we both did was to decide to go on a trip together (and Dear actually allowed, cos we couldn’t find anybody else….)! It was a fantastic trip!
little Joyce! Aiyo she’s so cute loh… and so silly sometimes that I need to scold her bad…. hahahaha….
Dear looking so fierce…
I like 華仔！He’s so cute and can talk about anything under the sky. Haiya… I always like drummers la… dunno why…. hahahaha…. Drummers are all nice people la……
So its now already 5 hours into 2011…. I’ll start to make this year a great one by waiting for Dear to
buy food back for me to gorge come home!
Muacks! Happy New Year!
Ever since I attended the WOW Blogger’s Party back in August, I was bought over by the WOW pads and has been using them since!
The WOW pads are comfy and absorbent and keeps me dry all day. They are not the type with the plastic-y top sheet that leaves your dry BUT uncomfortable. And lastly…. they are not boring white…. WOW pads comes in a variety of designs that so brightens up your day! hahahah! Do refer to the Blogger’s Part
y post to see the various designs!
and I just received another bundle of the Kotex WOW pads! Thanks Kotex!
This is my design!
oops… I know I’m not exactly good at artwork but its unique right?! hahahahaha….
Do unleash your creativity, join the contest and create a pad of your own! And don’t forget to vote for your favourite designs from the gallery!
After considering for the longest time, and being spurred on by Kaowee and Rachel, and finding a comrade in deed, Fiona, I’ve finally decided to embark on my braces journey! Yes, at this ripe old age when all the others had done it in their teens! hehehehe….
Fiona and I googled and looked through forums and decided to book a consultation with Dr Cheng from Mount Elizabeth and there…. No more looking back!
Me! and Fiona!
Dr Cheng looked at my teeth and determined what was needed to be done. I had actually intended to put on braces only for the top row of my teeth but according to Dr Cheng, that wouldn’t be good because then the top wouldn’t align with my bottom row. So no choice loh, had to do both if I really wanted to do it. Dr Cheng also advised both Fiona and I to extra 4 of our premolars, 2 up 2 down, to make space for the teeth to adjust. We really didn’t want to but Dr Cheng told us that he can still do it for us without the extraction but our teeth will be popping out significantly. Sigh… I don’t want to have my teeth straightened and face another bucks teeth problem. So in the end, both of us decided to go ahead with the extraction.
*Picture from http://www.orthodontics.com.sg/braces.htm
We were shown different types of braces. We picked the metal braces (coloured braces). I picked that because it was cheap loh… hhahahaha….
I know there’s a new invisalign…. but very expensive…
Was the braces put on upon the first visit? Nope. Dr Cheng inserted 8 spacers/separators in between my teeth to create space for the bands that are to be fixed on during our 2nd visit, and 2 X-rays were taken.
That’s about all that was done on the first visit and we had to return for a second appointment one week later.
The separators caused a bit of discomfort because they were putting quite a bit of pressure on my teeth and there were some soreness and difficulty in eating.
I sticked to eating softer food and ate very slowly!
Dear Dear accompany me to the second visit where my separators were removed and the bands were fixed.
*Picture from http://www.drclaresmiles.com/braces.html
4 Bands and Brackets were fixed onto my teeth, 2 up 2 down.
I was looking forward to removing the separators but the bands and brackets weren’t comfortable either… hahaha…. Aiya, I think that any foreign object in your body wouldn’t feel good loh…
I couldn’t bite fully for the first few days, but it got better after that. At first I didn’t dare to bite very much but soon after I got used to them, I tried to eat normally and everything was ok but food tend to get stuck at the brackets.
Went to Ajisen for ramen at Takashimaya after my appointment. I couldn’t eat very much! I should have ate my fill BEFORE going for my appointment! Look at my smile… muahahaha… unnatural….. I couldn’t bite fully then….
Dr Cheng doesn’t do extraction so he referred me to Dr Winston Tan at Camden Medical Centre to do my extraction. I just did it yesterday!
This part of the package was the one that Im most nervous about. Taking out 4 premolars… sigh… we all knew how deeply rooted our teeth are and pulling it out is no joke! But i told myself just be brave and go. I even asked my Dear to accompany me there but because he had a long night at work, so I decided to go alone!
Nothing scary actually! heh!
Dr Tan is very nice! He’s very friendly and kept asking me how I feel throughout the whole process. He gave me a choice as to whether I want to take out 2 first, and come back another day to take out 2 more if I’m scared. But I don’t want to go through it twice so I wanted to pull out all four all at once! Spare me the torture of going through it twice!
Dr Tan applied a topical gel to numb my gums before injecting the local anesthetic on the 4 areas on my gums. He was very assuring and gentle and made sure my bleeding was ok and the nurses were very nice too. Very fast, the whole process was over and I brought back my 4 premolars that were with me for so so many years! Hahahah….
I had the cotton gauze sticking out from 2 sides of my mouth and they were all bloody and because of the anesthetic, I couldn’t feel the lower part of my face at all. But i needed to deliver flowers to a friend of mine for her birthday and so I took a surgical mask (I really don’t wanna walk around orchard scaring people with all the blood. Plus, because I couldn’t feel my face, I really don’t know what kind of expression I’m wearing!! hahaha…), covered up my face and headed to buy flowers and brought it Outram for Joyce!
getting flowers at Ion…
Walking around after extraction….Pain? No…. The anesthetic was making me feeling-less… the pain came in only much later…..
Happy birthday Joyce! I’m a crazy Kuku….
I headed straight home after that and changed my cotton gauze (oh ya… forgot to mention that I was given 2 packs of them)… still bleeding… but after an hour I got impatient and took everything out and haven’t use any cotton gauze till now. Its fine actually!
It was quite sore and painful after the anesthetic wore off. I took panadol to relieve the pain. Eating wise…. A little difficult. I ate really really slowly. I think I was quite garang loh…. Dear got sushi for me and yeah… quite a bit of biting to be done. So in the end I ate quite little and ya… now I’ll say that I’m constantly hungry because I ate very little.
Oh Dr Tan’s nurse actually called me to follow up and check if i’m ok just now… So nice to go that extra step!
I’m going for my next visit to Dr Cheng next thursday to put up the braces finally. Its going to be a torturous one and a half years but hopefully its worth it!
Its great to have Fiona keeping me company! hahahaha….
Kele has taken a liking to jumping up onto the dining chairs, and then up to the dining table recently. Im not worried about him playing on the chairs but I don’t allow him on the table. There are things on the table that I’m worried that he’ll eat them, and that he might break the glass bottles and hurt himself. So I pulled the dining chair further away from the dining table so that Kele can still have his high element fun and be safe at the same time! Err.. but the chairs are now lined up in a straight line right in the middle of the dining room… and Kele’s toys and boxes to play in are on the floor next to the chairs… takes a bit of navigation to walk through my dining area now… hehehehehe
“What? I’m an adventurer… I’m jumping and climbing now…”
“I don’t like the flash….”
“eh? I think I should go and play with the boxes on the floor already….”
After playing for a long time… Kele got tired and did his flop and slept sideways on the floor….
I love my little boy……
It was a short shopping and makan-ing trip to Bangkok with Jez, my old old buddy from CJC! Dramatic start for us, we actually missed our flight to Bangkok and had to take the next available flight… zzzzzz…. but it was fine! Not gonna let that spoil the fun for us!
Jez had to carry my luggage for me most of the time… so extremely paiseh… its heavy~~~
Thanks ah dude!
some photos to throw here! (actually there’s a lot but I just picked a few!)
Must show this photo…
saw this top at Chatuchak Market and I had to get it because I missed Kele so much! hahah!
Its a great trip with wonderful food, shopping and massages! And the best thing, good company. Jez is an energizer bunny so full of energy but I really can’t keep up with him. I think he had to cut short on lots of activities just because I needed to rest and sleep, hhahahaha! Paiseh ah dude! Anyway thanks for planning the whole trip! See you soon, together with Doreen! ;p
Oh I nearly forgot!
I received 3 masks from Dress Me!
1) Revitalizing and Firming Mask
2) Whitening and Brightening Mask
3)Whitening and Revive Mask
and I’m going to review the first 2 masks today!
Revitalizing and Firming Mask
and all the Dress Me masks are soaked and dripping with the essence!
The mask was soaked with the essence and it was quickly absorbed (I got so comfy that I fell asleep with my mask on…). My skin was hydrated and supple after using it, and it was also noticeably firmer. I was surprised that although this particular mask isn’t a whitening mask, I thought that I looked fairer too.
Whitening and Brightening Mask
Yes! I do look that bit fairer and more radiant! The effects were obvious the next day, with brighter and hydrated skin.

We left Secondary school for so so many years already and never really had the chance to head back for visits. Jasmine’s church organized a Christmas event in PLMGSS and the few of us went for the event and took the opportunity to walk around the school compound to relive the wonderful teenage memories!
But PL underwent upgrading a few years back. Some blocks were demolished, and there were new things in place of them and many areas were beyond recognition from the old days. But like any old people… we went around searching for the familiar things and trying to recall what it was before… hahaha…..
Min standing along the staffroom corridor
Woohoo!! The ever so cool PL Band!
I spent so so much time there! I couldn’t find the Band room though…
The Science Labs and Home Econs block… What a nice periodic table!
My chemistry teacher ever made me sign a contract to memorise it…. Hahaha…
PL toilets are always filled with beautiful murals. I miss the long long bench in the super huge toilet with very big mirrors! The murals are no longer the same ones anymore. I guess they had to repaint after the entire school upgrading.
Still in the ladies!
Mirrors are huge… Those mirrors in the shopping malls can’t fight!
Our classroom blocks from Sec 1 to Sec 3. Sec 4s are in the Ebenezer block! There used to be classrooms on the right side where its empty now. Its been torn down already. My Sec 3 classroom used to be in that block!
The staircase that’s always filled with the girls chitter chatter!
I used to stand here to chit chat with my friends early in the mornings. Of course there aren’t any tables or chairs here and it was much more spacious without the storage cupboards on the right side.
Huimin in her seat in the classroom of her Sec 1A!
I always sit in the front row… bo bian… short leh.. hhahahaa….
walking the link bridge to Ebenezer Block! That’s Ebenezer Chapel behind! I remember all the weekly chapel services! the beautiful voices of the PL girls (and my nice drumming with the guitarist and keyboardist for the music…hohoho..) and how i always stare at the beautiful stained glass with the sunlight streaming through it.
Ebenezer Block 3rd floor… Min’s outside Sec 4A’s classroom!
And here i am at Sec 4C’s classroom!
Always stood outside the classroom chatting to friends from other classes!
My best friend since Primary One! We were partners who had to hold hands when we line up when we were 7 years old!
After all the walking, Min’s ankle injury started to act up and we headed back to the hall for the Christmas event. The dark brown hall with red curtains was gone and here’s the brighter and bigger version. I suddenly remember taking my ‘O’ levels in the hall, with so many many rows of tables and nervous girls…AND… you go into the hall without the PL jacket and you can just prepare to freeze to death and fail your Os… hahahaha…
The Christmas play and Christmas carols brought back so much memories! I remember the plays my class did even from Primary school days, especially the Ebenezer Scrooge play where I was playing the part of a little fairy… hahahahah……Those were the days!
It was wonderful meeting the girls and we headed for a super super long supper and talked about everything under the sky. Meet up again soon girls!
“Christmas, isn’t Christmas, till it happens in your heart……..”

It was so adorable! It came with an orange!! And a boarding ticket to Korea! (Well… errmm not exactly… but a chance to get one! hahahah!)
Just look at the tag on the cutesy orange… Hahaha….
And the BB cream that Im doing a review on today is the Bio-essence Bio Multi-Effect BB Cream
Just a simple introduction to the product first…
And to those who are still using foundations, let us do a quick comparison and let me convince you to try out BB creams!
Now let’s try out Bio-essence Bio Multi-Effect BB Cream.
Bare and naked face with zero trace of makeup.
Aiyo… my dark eye rings are really beyond description…
And check out the uneven complexion and scars!!!
Squeeze a little Bio-essence Bio Multi-Effect BB Cream.
The texture isn’t thick at all. Its actually quite watery and hence very easy to apply and easy to spread it evenly on the face.
How to apply BB creams…
Ta-da! After applying Bio-essence Bio Multi-Effect BB Cream.
My flaws are concealed and complexion more even and radiant!
Add eyeliner and falsies for a natural look!
if you want heavier eye makeup…
So I left home for shopping in the afternoon and dinner at night. I’m going to test its staying power and coverage at the end of the day!
After half a day out….. Still good! Except that my eyeliner and eyeshadow smudges… hahahah!

Want to look like her?
Flawless skin, zero dark eye rings….
Yes for me!! So do you right?! Hahaha… I know!
I’m sponsored 2 products and here’s my little review for it!
1) Ginvera Green Tea Whitening Marvel Gel
2) Ginvera Jade Dark Eye Circles Roll Away
Ginvera Green Tea Whitening Marvel Gel $16.80
I’ve heard about the wonders of this products for very long and I’m pretty excited to try it! Let me give you a short introductioon first….
Squeeze a little and spread it on your entire face
Massage it for about one minute.
Can you see the little white flakes on my face? The dead skin cells and dirt from my skin! I’ve got so much of them! hahaha…
After the massage, I washed my face with a facial cleanser and skin was smoother and more radiant! Its very effective in helping to rub away the blackheads!
After exfoliation, I decided to put on a mask since the dead skin is removed and my skin can absorb better. The next morning, I woke up with soft, supple skin and Im noticeably fairer!!
And looking at the above picture, you can tell that im THE LORD OF THE (DARK EYE) RINGS!!!!
and hence, the next product will come in handy!
Ginvera Jade Dark Eye Circles Roll Away $18.90
The roll on jade ball
I like the innovative roll on application of the Ginvera Jade Dark Eye Circles Roll Away. Its very convenient and you don’t even have to use your finger. And the jade is cooling! And jade is said to promote blood circulation to brighten eye contours!
And there’s always something for you!
You can redeem your FREE Marvel Gel here!
Dear Dear and I went for a little 2 days staycation 2 weeks ago at The Saff Hotel because Dear couldn’t take leave to go overseas. So from around 8pm plus till about 4 to 5 am, I was there myself having my me time while Dear Dear went to work…. hehe!
The Saff Hotel
Its a new boutique hotel at the Chinatown area (just opposite 1929…), and its quite nice!
Its only a few months old… Took this photo from a little corner coffeeshop at the shophouses opposite. We were having our dinner there during our stay on the second day. The zi char is quite nice! But what I really love was the coffee and toast I da bao for Dear Dear to eat in the room that morning! Its really good…No joke!
Some photos of our room!
Just came back from Alice’s wedding dinner!
See that green door? It actually leads out to a balcony with a spiral staircase. There were only a few rooms with this feature and we were lucky enough to get it. It was more convenient for Dear!
I couldn’t find the toilet at first…(I checked in myself first because Dear had a rehearsal in the afternoon… lucky ah… if not he will scold me 脑残 again… heheheh…Im blur la! Sometimes la… hahahah…) Then I thought to myself, “Cham la… this room hasn’t got a toilet??” I thought the white door was a long window….zzzz….
hahaha,,, i found the toilet…
What do I do when Dear Dear was busy working? I was slacking around enjoying my me time… Oh! There was free wi-fi and so I brought my laptop along!
Macbook, a magazine, cosy room, TV and a cup of Earl Grey Tea!
I intended to go to St James with Misaki to watch Dear Dear but I was rotting away and felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier and eventually didn’t go.. heh….
Anyway… Dear Dear fell sick on the second day… Poor thing… and I was very worried about my darling Kele though Shieh Yong was taking care of him for me. So…. actually, we took a cab back home when we woke up in the afternoon and spent the afternoon at home. Dear Dear was resting while I was keeping Kele company. We only headed back in the evening!
Had a good time there! Not the 5 star kinda hotel but its nice, cosy and clean!
**I lost my Gingerbread Man soft toy there. I brought it along to hug at night, but forgot to bring it back. I called the hotel and they said they will keep a lookout for me, but when I called back the next day wanting to go back to collect, they said that they couldn’t find. Sigh…. Gingerbread Man was just lying on the bed ma… WHO TOOK IT?!!! sobs….
Love eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushers and MAKEUP??!!
Then its time for you to visit Vintage Heroine
! There’s so many pretty palettes and brushes for you to choose from! And will it burn a hole in your pocket? Absolutely not….!!
I tried the Warm Palette and the Shimmer Palette and create 3 looks with them! I’m no guru, but I’m adventurous okie! ;p
Smokey eyes with a dark brown, a lighter shade of brown, and black!
And I filled in my eyebrows with a dark brown shade too!
I like the warm palette a lot! I use a lot of browns, greys and black all the time and its very convenient that I can have so many different tones of the colours all in one palette, and it comes with sponge tip brush. The eyeshadows aren’t rough and grainy at all. In fact, they are very fine and easy to apply. Thumbs up!
I like this colour combi a lot but my compact cam can’t seem to capture the colours because they are pretty light and shimmery…. Its blue-green shimmery shadow from the inner corners to 3/4 of my eyes, and I competed the ends by blending it with light pink shimmer…. Undereye? I used the same blue-green shadow to line it!
Because I can’t capture the colours, I went heavier with them with more intense shades….
Undereye lined with a more intense shade of blue-green. I think you can see that its blue-green and pink on top too!
Clearer look at the colours….
Hmm… I think I should have blended them more….
Last look…. I decided to play with the metallic champagne and sliver colours.
Champagne on top nearer the corners, blended with shimmery gold at the ends. I lined the undereye with sliver and opened up my eyes by using sliver at the inner corners.
I like this! I should go out with it soon!
Bought over by the wide selection of colours you can have already? Including all the brushes and other makeup items you can get? Don’t wait anymore… Head over to Vintage Heroine
to place your orders now!
Don’t think anymore….. the pre-order for this batch will close this Sunday, 12th December! Hurry hurry!!! Im hurrying over to get the blushers and the brushes too!!
I must digress to outer outer space before I start on the challenge proper.. hahaha…
I was reading the magazine when I spotted these!
Umbrella with Rabbit Casing!!
$48 from Fie Japan
Lucidity Translucent Pressed Powder, Year of the Rabbit, by Estee Lauder. $120
So cute! I love rabbits! Because I love my little (ermm, not very little..) Kele! But of course I won’t buy la… I’m fine with my umbrella and powder! Hahahah….
Okie okie… starting the topic proper….
Day 4 Challenge: A Habit That You Wish You Didn’t Have
errm… maybe not so bad la… but u get the idea….
Being terribly messy. I was thinking of taking photos of the mess around the different corners of the house but decided against it because its really messy!
Aiyo I also dunno why I can’t kill this bad trait of mine. Its been with me since I was a little kid. I remember how my bookshelves and how my cabinet for school books and worksheets are always in a mess and I always fear the day when my teachers want to recall our files for checking. I’ll have everything in the shelves and cabinets, I know, because I don’t throw my stuff. But I’ll never know where to find them! And I’m one of those who needs to shut the doors of the cupboards super fast after throwing my book in, because, otherwise, everything else is going to come tumbling out!!! muahahaha….
I’m a little better already as compared to my younger self but still no good. I’m going to make it my 2011 resolution. Be a lot tidier! Good? heh!
