May 21st, 2013 Belif First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask

SPONSORED

The first thing I noticed and liked about this eye mask is that there is no need to wash off after application. Just washed it off the next morning. This is something great for lazy me.

And the eye mask that I am talking about is Belif’s new overnight eye mask, First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask.

Creamy texture and the eye mask carries the signature smell of Belif products. The fresh and spa-like scent.

First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask is easy to spread. Use a generous amount to massage the cream around the eye area and leave it on overnight.

How exactly should we do the massage.

This eye mask is worth your investment. I woke up to firm and hydrated eyes and fine lines were gone. Skin area the eyes were supple and my eyes looked less tired. My dark eye rings looked pretty much the same to me. I guessed I need to use it over a longer period of time before it is fair for me to decide if it really reduces my dark eye rings.

Thank you Belif, I love this product!

May 20th, 2013 My Fat Pocket X Rocketnews24 to Bring You the Latest News in Town!

My Fat Pocket always brings us the latest beauty, fashion, lifestyle news and gossips in town. Now, My Fat Pocket is partnering with Rockenews24 to bring us piping hot news under the “Gossips” column!

What is Rockenews24 actually?

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, RocketNews24 is a Japanese-language news blog. Since their launch in 2008, they have built a massive fan base by reporting the interesting, strange and random, much of it brought over from the English-speaking world. Now, Rocketnews24 launched their English site to bring Asia’s own brand of strange to the English-speaking world. Most of the articles that are published are translated right from their Japanese site, providing readers unique stories and trivial information about Japan, by Japan.

So anyway, here’s what I just read from the Gossip section of my dear myfatpocket.com! Some of the latest articles. Do pop over and browse through the list!

1) Japanese Model Underwent 30 Cosmetic Procedures to Look Like a French Doll

http://www.myfatpocket.com/gossips/japanese-model-underwent-30-cosmetic-procedures-to-look-like-a-french-doll.html

A Japanese model named Vanilla Chamu has recently become an internet sensation after it was reported she spent 10 million yen ($100,000) on 30 plastic surgery procedures in order to fulfill her dream of becoming a perfect living French doll.

I’m so sure this photo of Vanilla Chamu shown above is heavily photoshopped, because she doesn’t look one bit like the above photo in the videos! Why the need to plastic when you still got to photoshop it? Puzzling.

2) Fake Knee-High Stockings Enrage Men of the Internet

http://www.myfatpocket.com/gossips/fake-knee-high-stockings-enrage-men-of-the-internet.html

Its the same ma! That group of enraged men are weird isn’t it? I don’t how how much that little bit of skin above the socks makes any difference, or any difference big enough to enrage men.. -_-”’

But anyway, I like the stockings. Where can I buy them? Hahaha…

3) Zombie-Themed Bar Sponsors Zombie Walks in Tokyo, Gives Patrons a Taste of Brains, Delicious Brains

http://www.myfatpocket.com/gossips/zombie-themed-bar-sponsors-zombie-walks-in-tokyo-gives-patrons-a-taste-of-brains-delicious-brains.html

Zombiena, a self-titled “zombie performance unit” based in Tokyo hosts a zombie themed bar at the “Night Gallery Cafe CROW” in Roppongi on the last Sunday of each month. A 2,000 yen (US$20.12) entrance fee gets you inside to enjoy an array of bizarre food and drinks.

I love themed restaurants! But there are just so few in Singapore! There’s one or two maid cafes that I went to in Singapore but… but… but… never mind….

4) A Tragic Case of Tattoos Gone Wrong

http://www.myfatpocket.com/gossips/a-tragic-case-of-tattoos-gone-wrong.html

We are no strangers to Chinese characters. Chinese is a beautiful language and I can certainly understand the fascination for people from countries where this language isn’t used. But I guess before putting it down permanently on your body, it would be wise to do a thorough research.

5) Gwyneth Paltrow Wears A Sexy Sheer Dress To Iron Man 3 Premiere

I fell in love with this lady since “Sliding Doors”. Still looking fantastic now!

3) Annyeonghaseyo, Aegyo Sal! For the Love of Korean Eyebags

7) 5 Questions to Ask Before Letting Your Teen Get Plastic Surgery

So… is it a problem? Could be. If these teens are choosing to solve their alleged self-image issues with surgeries aimed to make them look like the ostensible standard of beauty, then yes, there could be a problem here. What can parents do about it?

8 ) 5 Celebrities Who Shouldn’t Have Gotten Nose Jobs

Hollywood isn’t the most forgiving of places when it comes to women’s appearances. Leading ladies often feel pressure to be perfect — Hollywood perfect — so they resort to drastic things like going under the knife. But “Hollywood perfect” doesn’t necessarily mean better.

In fact, we kind of like a little character in our ladies. It sets them apart from the rest.

9) Koreans’ Plastic-Surgery Obsession Baffles Tourists

Happy Reading! Happy Weekends!

May 16th, 2013 Bangkok Trip Day 2 - Siam Niramit 200313

The highlight of the trip for Day 2 was the Siam Niramit show that I booked!

Morning brunch at Black Canyon Coffee that was very near our hotel.

Will die without morning coffee.

We had the whole afternoon before heading to Siam Niramit. We went to MBK to get some phone accessories. We loved this snack that we tried from our last trip there and we went back to buy some! I still don’t know what its called. Does anyone knows?

The weather was so hot that day and Jon Jon got to keep buying drinks!

My unicorn tee! Bought it from Asiatique the previous day.
We went back to the hotel to deposit our shopping items. Jon wanted to change out of his long sleeve shirt so badly! Changed into a t-shirt and the boy is happy.

Siam Niramit is a world class performance of Thailand’s culture and heritage. It is quite a spectacular show performed on the gigantic stage now listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The show uses special effects with the world’s most advanced technology to produce a stimulating, realistic and inspiring experience. I think you will love it if you love cultural and historical stuff. Its good to read up and get a rough idea of the history before watching!

I booked the show through http://www.hotels2thailand.com upon some research. It’s much cheaper to book through hotels2thailand than through the official Siam Niramit website.

There are a few different packages to choose from. I bought the one with roundtrip transfer + buffet dinner + Normal seat. You can look here for the different packages and pricing. The driver cum guide came to pick us up from Baiyoke Sky Hotel. He looked so honest and nice and he is!

Seated and ready for buffet dinner!

Eh.. the food is nice, but not fantastic though…Thai and Western cuisine.

The actors came in singing something that I didn’t understand, but it is to tell us that the pre-show at the outdoor area is starting soon.

Feeding the elephants! <3

I’m not going to ride on them because I feel that I’m torturing them. :( I sayang-ed his nose too! Too cute.

We didn’t watch the outdoor performance for very long and went ahead to explore the mock up Thai village. It was huge!! By the time we were there the sun has already set. Would recommend that you all go earlier so that the pictures are nicer with better lighting! We took many photos there! Bear with the photo flood!

A very kind Caucasian lady offered to take a photo for us. That’s so sweet and nice of her!

Show is starting and they do make announcements before that so not to worry that you will miss the show!

The entrance is lined with cute sleeping elephants!

You will be asked to deposit your cameras before the show. Not to worry, it’s very orderly and safe. I deposited mine and they took my camera kept it in a pouch. I was given a number tag to retrieve it after the show. Just don’t forget to take your camera after the excitement of the show!

Okie bye bye!

Our guide was already waiting for us at the door and he sent us back to the hotel! Convenient! Had a good time too!

May 14th, 2013 The New Dettol Radiance…Plus Giveaway!

My Dad is the biggest fan of the very traditional Dettol bar soap and I remember using it when I was a little girl too! One can never miss the signature smell of the Dettol bar soap!

Recently, Dettol launched a new range of products. Not the bar soap that I know, but a shower gel. Introducing its unique deep-cleansing formulation that also nourishes and purifies with its latest range of body wash - Dettol Radiance.

The New Dettol Radiance Anti-Bacterial Body Wash

Dettol Radiance is formulated with a unique blend of Vitamin B3 and C and replenishes skin with an abundance of nutrients for optimum rejuvenation and purification to revitalise its health. Vitamin B3 makes our skin younger and firmer, while Vitamin C acts as an oxidant for healthy and supple skin.

Gel like texture.

Does not foam up very much.

I don’t know about you but Dettol products always make me feel very clean because of it’s anti-bacterial properties!

Dettol Radiance Anti-Bacterial Body Wash does not carry the signature “Dettol smell” but is only slightly scented. I like the not-so-strong scent in fact. It doesn’t foam up very much but cleanse skin very well. However, not to worry, skin is not squeaky and not stripped of moisture after washing.

My 3 Course Meal for Heavenly Skin:
1) Cleanse well! No matter how many expensive products we use, our skin will never be able to absorb them if they are dirty and clogged up!
2) Use products that are suitable for your skin. A $10 product may work better than a $100 product if it suits you! We are always seeking and searching and I hope you found yours already!
3) Enough sleep. My friends who know me well enough knows how much importance I place on having enough sleep. So much so that I’ve been nicknamed “Koon Sin” (Sleeping God in Hokkien! Haha!)

What’s your 3 course meal for good skin? Share with me!

Giveaway Time!!

Leave a comment as to why you would love to try the new Dettol Radiance and 3 readers will win a set of Dettol Radiance from Dettol! Remember to leave your name and email address too!

Keep your comments coming in! Giveaways ends 21st May!

May 8th, 2013 Pantene Launches Colour & Perm Lasting Care Range

Pantene launches Colour & Perm Lasting Care Range!

I’m just going to introduce this hair range here and not review it. I’ll leave my review after my 2-week trial of this range!

Have you ever colour and perm your hair and love it so much only to see it start losing their lustre and shine after 2 to 3 weeks? Why? Because of hair damage! In fact, when hair isn’t damaged, colour and curls last longer!

Based on this damage discovery, the haircare giant has designed the new Colour & Perm Lasting Care regimen that targets hair health. Unlike conventional reactive solutions to damaged hair from colour and perm, Pantene’s Pro-V Colour & Perm Lasting Care helps women achieve their desired multi-dimensional colour and buoyant curls for up to six weeks, without compromising their hair’s health.

We attended the launch of Pantene Colour and Perm Lasting Care Range together.

A demonstration was done to show us how porous damage hair was.

Porous, damaged hair will sink in the water while the healthy hair will float.

And everyone started to cut a strand of their hair to try!

Jon helping a pretty girl cut a strand of her hair!

And this strand belongs to me. No prize for knowing that it sinks all the way to the bottom with all the chemical damage on my hair… sigh…

I will share my hair condition and the effect this range have on my hair after the trial period. So I shall keep this post short and sweet and leave the details to the next post on Pantene Colour and Perm Lasting Range. I hope my hair becomes healthier and stronger, and that my hair colour can keep it’s lustre longer!

Anyway, during the product launch, the hairstylist also taught us how to create simple looks with minimal tools that are fit for the season.

This season’s simple and elegant waves.

Demonstrated on pretty Andrea.

I’ll try this look when I’m free! It will make me look more feminine right?!

Hot, party look

Fringe is braided and after removing it, there is volume and curls on the fringe for styling purpose.

Final look.

It was a cosy event and I was glad to see Romona again! Why are you so tall huh! Hahahaha… See you soon babe!

Look out for my review on Pantene Colour and Perm Lasting Range that will be coming soon yo! (^^)

May 6th, 2013 Mayday Outfit: Monochrome

All the students and working adults are cheering last week for the rare mid-week off day!

My straight bangs has grown out and the longer it grows, the more I don’t know what I should do with it. The simplest way was to cover them up with my colorful cap.

OOTD
Jumping onto the monochrome bandwagon that’s all the rage this Spring/Summer. Wearing them in my favourite stripes. I still do not dare to venture into black and white stripes from top to toe. It really really reminds me so much of Beetlejuice. No no for me yet.

Woke up late on a off day so Jon Jon and I were having lunch at around 2pm! I ordered a spinach lagsane and it didn’t taste as good as it looks. :(

And while waiting for food~~~

No plans for the day so we decided to pop to Kbox to try our luck for a KTV session, hoping that it’s not fully booked!
Yup, just the both of us!

Holiday so it must be eat and play and after that… eat again!

Sushi Tei time!

Mini post today! Happy week ahead! (^^)/

May 5th, 2013 Gangnam District and Plastic Surgery

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the adage goes. But in Gangnam, beauty is in the hands of her plastic surgeons and with a setting amidst upmarket shopping areas, flashing billboards images of women plastic surgery of before and after, it’s never more apt as it’s about style.

According to Korean mythology, Hwanung transformed a bear into a woman and made her his wife. A child by the name of Dangun was born out of this union and later became the founder of Gojosen, Korea’s first kingdom.

Legends and Mythologies have always enthralled and captured the imagination. Tales of the beautiful and the bold from Cleopatra to Helen of Troy have inspired the quest for the elixir of life and the fountain of youth via traditional or modern medicine means.

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons performed more treatments per person in South Korea than in any other country, making Korea arguably the kingdom of plastic surgery.

One in five of South Korean women readily admit to have gone under the knife and in Seoul itself, 20 percent of women between the ages of 19 and 49 have had plastic surgery done.

Whatever the reasons and the driving factor behind this pursuit of enhanced beauty may be subjective but one thing’s for sure, it’s boosting the nation’s economy and image on the global front.

Korea’s Gangnam District has been compared to cities like Beverly Hills, California. Known for its heavy concentration of wealth and high standard living, the affluent southern district is also the hub for medical tourism with surging increase in the number of yearly visitors.

As part of the engine for Korea’s economic growth, Gangnam District was given an award by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for its excellence in medical tourism is set to propel itself as the aesthetics centre in Asia and possibly beyond.

The crew of Aesthetics Hub will be in the motherland of plastic surgery to video document and bring you the scoops of why, how, what and where of plastic surgery and aesthetics procedures.

As Korean music superstar PSY would say, “Oppa Gangnam Style!”

May 1st, 2013 New! NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF25

SPONSORED

I’m a whitening fanatic and have been using face whiting products for the longest time. I searched high and low for body whitening creams but there are only limited items that I can find on the shelves. It was great to know that Nivea came up with a whitening body serum that serves this purpose. Am I trying it out? Of course.

Nivea Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF25

Being fair has always been an Asian ideal and more so with so many cute Korean and Japanese stars having being naturally fair (Singapore weather! We are so tan already and Mr Sun is still shining down on us relentlessly!!). I don’t think we want to have nice fair faces but a much darker body colour, It’s going to look really funny.

From press release:
“Similar to how whitening serums and essences work for your face, this innovation is a 14-day intensive whitening treatment for your body. A new breakthrough in technology of whitening with a lightweight and deep absorption serum formula, this 1st ever body whitening serum comes with SPF25, offering daily sun protection against sun damage and skin darkening. Enriched with natural Vitamin C from Camu Camu and 95% Pure Vitamin C to penetrate deeply to repair and restore accumulated sun-damaged skin cells, and lighten dull and dark skin. New! NIVEA Body UV Whitening Serum with SPF25, 200ml helps you achieve visibly fairer, more radiant and even toned skin in 14 days. ”

I’ve tried it out for 2 weeks and I saw that my very dry skin is now softer and more moisturized. It reduces the flakiness that I have on my legs. The texture of the serum is light and easily absorbed by the skin. No stickiness encountered! However, I don’t see a significant whitening effect. I don’t know if its because I’m not always indoors most of the time like office ladies do. But I’ll still be using it for the SPF protection offered. Sun protection and a serum in one, I like!

Get to know more about Nivea sand their products at https://www.facebook.com/NIVEA.sg. ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

April 24th, 2013 Have You…?

April 23rd, 2013 A Movie Date and Let’s Have a Cup of Tea Cappucino!

I’m always waiting for the weekends to come so that I can sleep in and spend some time with my love ones. A simple movie date or dinner date makes me happy already. No need for elaborate stuff. And so we booked tickets for “Olympus Has Fallen” at Bugis+ for an evening movie. It’s a very good action packed movie! Love it!

Makeup for the day! I love spending time drawing on my face, its therapeutic okie….

Simple simple eye makeup created with my Urban Decay Glinda’s palette.

Cropped top and high waist shorts from my Bangkok haul.

Thanks you Coffee Bean for the vouchers and here we are trying out their new concoctions before the start of the movie!

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf will be introducing Tea Cappuccinos at all its outlets on 8 April – freshly brewed tea concoctions layered with silky milk foam and drizzled with delicious vanilla bean sauce. Available in three charming flavors – Chai, Scottish Breakfast and Anniversary Blend Tea, the trio of tea perfection adds a new twist to your tea experience.

Jon Jon and I both chose Scottish Breakfast tea Cappucino.

He is always a tea person while I’m the coffee one. He likes it!

How can we drink tea without a cake… it has gotta be our favourite cheese cake.

The aromatic smell of the tea, with the frothy milk foam on top. <3

Kicking off the company’s 50th anniversary this year, the Tea Cappuccinos will be available for a limited period of eight weeks, from 8 April to 25 May 2013 at $6.00 each for all three flavors (Chai, Scottish Breakfast and Anniversary Blend Tea).

Counting down to Saturday again!

April 21st, 2013 Bangkok Trip - Asiatique 190313

I made another shopping trip to Bangkok in March again! No time for long trips so who can resist shopping at Bangkok since we got only a few days to getaway. Heh!

The first thing we did after dumping our luggage in the hotel room is to run out to have our lunch (starving!) at our favourite wanton mee stall. Refer to last year’s Bangkok post for “how to get there”, addresses for shops and hotel and shop names yo! :)

The wanton mee stall is just opposite Shibuya 19 shopping mall. We didn’t explore the mall last trip and decided to go and see what’s in there since it has this very jappy name. Nothing worth exploring in there actually. It’s just a mini version of Platinum Mall and it doesn’t do its jappy name any justice. I was hoping that it carries Japanese products or something like that.

It was already late afternoon by the time we head to shop at Platinum Mall. We just combed through 2 levels and decided to head back to our hotel at Baiyoke Sky to dump our haul and rest for a while. Why are flights so tiring? Singapore to Bangkok is just a short flight but it seemed to sap my energy. :( Made a cup of coffee, rested for a while and we made our way to Asiatique.

This is a stupid photo that I took before we head out.

Walking to the Airport Rail Link and had to stop to let this train “cross the road” first. Took a few photos and this is the only one that came out well.

There are many different ways to get to Asiatique but I’ll just share my way! Hahaha…

How to get to Asiatique:
- take the BTS to Saphan Thaksin Station
- Take Exit 2 at Saphan Thaksin BTS Station
- When you exit the station, look for the riverfront. The pier (Sathorn Pier) is there.
- Take a free shuttle boat (we paid 20baht each for our trip because the free shuttle boat has a long long queue!!!)

Took this boat instead of the free shuttle boat.

It’s actually quite near if you take a cab or tuk tuk to Asiatique once you are at Saphan Thaksin Station. But I want to take a boat to go shopping. Who takes a boat to go shopping in Singapore? So I want to take a boat to shop there! Hahaha…

Beautiful scenery while we were on the boat. There’s also a guide on the boat telling us what are the attractions and such.

Enjoying the windy ride.

Yay! We are there!

Spotted a cute looking shop and needless to say I spent $$$ there.

Everything is so cute in there!! Buy buy buy… Hahaha…

Time to appease our growling stomach…

Decided to have Japanese food at Kacha Kacha. It’s a very lively restaurant with super energetic waiters and waitress!
Food was good too!

Clock tower and Ferries wheel at Asiatique.

Jon Jon getting a very nice tee for his BFF, whom I call his “二奶”.

Oops! We missed the last boat! We took a Tuk Tuk back to the BTS station!

Very happy but extremely tiring day 1 in Bangkok!
