Review: Vintage Studio at Holland V! *^.^*

It’s been wayy too long since i last updated! So much has been going on, and life has been moving way too fast to put into words or pictures, but i think a good place to start is my awesome new hair after my visit to Vintage Studio at Holland v! heh.

some of you might know that i recently did a semi britney haha and chopped half my locks off when i wandered overseas, into a one length longish bob, but it’s been so crazy and difficult to handle cause it really only looks good when straightened perfectly or curled, that most of the time i’ve left it in a messy bun or loose ponytail. not anymore! i popped by Vintage Studio and i have to swear that it’s one of the cosiest, prettiest places ever to do your hair, and yet with some of the most amazing expertise and best service ever! and not to mention, they do nails too, but i didnt have time to check that out. but nuff said, pictures! ^.^

Photobucket
vintage has a whole list of drinks for you to pick and choose so you’re comfortable doing your hair, i picked crysanthemum! heh. and i dont know if it was a happy coincidence, but i got a leo cup, my horoscope! ^^ was so pleased. and the drink was yummy too!

i think what makes vintage stand out is the fact that they’re so amazingly advanced. i got a detailed scan of my scalp so that they could have a better idea of the right and suitable products to use and advise me on! amazing. and Adrian and Desmond, who made magic on my hair that day, heh, taught me so many new things! okayy scans first. this is the closes you’ll ever get to zoom into my photos hahahahhaa.

Photobucket
front of my scalp! a little too oily and sensitive too ):
Photobucket
and this part’s a little too much buildup and dry! this difference in hair scalp conditions means that i have a PH imbalance. i also got to see photos of healthy scalp (which should look pinkish) and apparently though i thought i had pretty healthy hair, i was so wrong hahahaa. here’s desmond pointing out the parts that are most unhealthy to me! also, healthy hair should have two to three even strands growing out of each follicle, and apparently i had a ton of baby hair and not as many strands as i should. tsk tsk. time to do some scalp cleaning to jumpstart my follicles into working well again!

Photobucket
here’s desmond using a high frequency machine to cleanup the buildup on my scalp and disinfect it! some of you might recognize it , it’s apparently used in facials too, and smells super hygienic like a dentists office hahaha. anything that smells as hygienic as a dentists office, im convinced does a ton of disinfecting hahaha. but basically the high frequency kills all the bacteria, hence the smell, heh.

Anyways, i got to do two different treatments, *^.^*! Here’s the first,

♥♥♥ EKS Scalp Treatment ♥♥♥

Photobucket
Pretty pretty bottles all in a row! Each treats a different hair problem, Comfort for sensitivity, Vitality for hair growth, Purity for ph imbalance, and Rebalance for oily scalp. Purity was selected for me! The scalp treatment was applied and massaged into scalp. I was using my ipad halfway when Desmond started the scalp massage and it was SO SHIOK OMG i had to put everything down and just relax. hahahahhaha. Vintage apparently doesnt just have stylists, they have hair experts with magic hands i swear! heh! i almost fell asleep!

Photobucket
right after the scalp treatment was a quick wash! a minty shampoo was used also to disinfect the scalp, but i was advised to only use a minty shampoo once a week cause using too much of it could potentially dry it out. so girls stay away from your brother/boyfriend’s men’s shampoo! apparently boys have slightly oilier scalps so thats just nice for them, but not us. its also better to shampoo with cold water, and twice if possible, first time to wash out the dirt, and second for your shampoos good stuff to activate. can yall believe i learnt all this while getting my hair washed? ^^

(also completely random side note but HOW GORGEOUS ARE THE CURLS of the girl in the background in the above pic! mad love )

Photobucket

my O3 ozone treatment! also super icy and minty to clear buildup, and its blown in a bubble hair thingy that is mad funny and cute! i was so entertained!
Photobucket

don’t i look like megamind! except he has no hair i think? lol.

Photobucket
HAHAHAHAHHAHA sorry i couldnt help myself

anyways then its on to treatment two, the super amazing hair treatment! im so grateful to Vintage Studio that i got to try it!

♥♥♥ Bio Naza Brazilian Keratin System Treatment ♥♥♥

Photobucket

Photobucket
Professional use only! ahahaa. thank goodness im in good hands.

Here’s some info i took from the secret manual!
Photobucket
check out the tiny pic in the bottom right hand corner of the above pic! the half frizzy, half treatment hair. super amazing

Photobucket

It’s applied to hair then blown dry, then straightened again so the heat seals it in. Here’s what it looks like in microscopic form!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Adrian explained to me that it’s pretty much like if we were to iron a crumpled shirt back to its original form! Thats how our hair is like after years, crumpled and not straight (hence we get frizzy and flyaway hair) , and then when you take a iron to the shirt, it retains back it’s original look again. Sounds like hair straightening or rebonding, but it’s super different! Basically what rebonding does is that it chemically breaks the bonds that hold hair together, and then makes it limp and forces it to take on the new ’straightened’ shape. which is why rebonding is considered a dchemical treatment and how its damaging for hair too.

PhotobucketOn the other hand, keratin is part of our hair’s natural substance, and the bionaza system is actually all organic and seals our hair back to what we originally had. So it’s actually a healthy alternative to rebonding and straightening! and i’d rather have organic and healing over chemical breakage any day. it’s also really good after colouring your hair as it repairs the hair bonds, so it’ll seal in colour too!

anyways ive had treatments before,  but the results of this was really super super smooth in just one session. here are unedited hair pics i took while i was halfway through and i already love how my hair looks! camwhore alert heh!

superlove! ****^.^*****

anyways after that Serum elixir 79 was applied!
Photobucket
Theres no silicon unlike most serums and also organic, so it doesnt weigh down hair. All the way from italy!

Photobucket
Desmond doing finishing touches before im done! ^.^
Photobucket
Back of hair. Smooth and sleek and best of all no more flyaway hairs to plague me! ahahaha. (sorry about my black roots, i’ll fix them soon! ahaha.)

Ohoh i also took my usual lookbook shots of the salon! Was getting super crowded by evening time when i was leaving though so i didnt stay too long, didnt want to get in the way, but look how pretty it is!

Photobucket
Im sooo in love with the high ceilings and decor! and how cosy and welcoming it feels ♥
PhotobucketSuper comfy massive chillout couch so your boyfriend can wait in comfort and hopefully not complain hahahaha.

Photobucket
Manicure area! I’ll definitely blog about it next time if i get a chance! ^^
Photobucket

busy busy!

Photobucket
Taken from my ipad, with Adrian! :D Didn’t get a chance to take a photo with Desmond cause he was busy after that ): Hopefully next time! heh!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ !
Anyways, Vintage Studio is located at the heart of Holland V! ((:

26C Lorong Mambong
Holland Village,
Singapore 277685
Mon-Sun: 10:00 am-10:00 pm
Tel: 64658321

It’s best to make an appointment first cause they can get really busy! I’d personally recommend going on weekdays and time it such that you finish just in time for dinner, cause it’s less crowded then and so that you can go for the yummy food at holland v right after and show off your new hair! heh.
You can also check out their website http://www.vintagestudio.com.sg and facebook for more!

——– ♥

So far it’s been about a week, and I’m super happy with my hair till now! I used to avoid blow drying my hair like the plague cause it frizzes up like crazy and i get flyaway hair everywhere, but now all i have to do is blow dry and it looks like i just stepped out of the salon, with a really nice shine too! yayy! thanks a million Vintage Studio! heh. and special thanks to Adrian and Desmond too for teaching me so much and being so awesome! ♥♥♥ ^.^ ♥♥♥

The secret to my wardrobe - Speedpost

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you should have noticed by now that I am almost always impeccably dressed to the nines. Well, that’s cos I don’t shop in dreary Singapore, too many copycat clones wearing clothes bought from the same sale or something.

What I do is that I scour the internet for fabulous indie websites that sell one-off pieces and go order crazy. It’s also important to keep up with the trends and seasons so I really hate it when companies lose your parcels or take forever to send your package over.

Fear not, SPEEDPOST IMPORT EXPRESS promises you your online shopping within 2-4 days! Totally great for last minute party purchases or even a special gift to impress someone for their farewell gift!

sp

ps
They also have a great discount package going on from now till 4th Sept ‘11, so do grab this opportunity to pad your closet with unique clothes!

WHY YOU STARE *GLARES* DUN B KAYPOH.

okay sorry totally aunty moment there hahaha. loving this jumpsuit, mad wide flare straight cut pants combined with skinny straps, and crazy cutouts at the sides. i keep thinking it’s like if 60s style made love with new york street fashion and made a baby. lol. pictures kind of don’t do the jumpsuit justice but it was getting dark when i came out of the show so we were losing light. ): anyways it’s mad comfy too, almost like pjs. whee.

going through the triumph show pictures now, and picking out my favourites! so many looks i liked. gonna be a busy week, i know i really need to blog more often! ): i’m hardly at home so i try to squeeze it all in, somebody invent a time stopping device someone soon please! need.more.time.

Review: i.fairy sakura lenses

Photobucket

So some of you asked about the pink circle lenses, and i thought i’d put up a picture of how the packaging looks like so it’s easier to find for those of you who are interested! They’re called i.fairy and the color’s Sakura, and it’s a little different from regular lenses cause it doesn’t have any of the blending lines, just a pink layer with an enlarged black rim. The clear inner circle’s diameter is wider than a regular colour lens, if i’m not wrong, so i don’t get any of the blurry side vision i tend to get with Freshkon Colourfusions, and it also makes pupils look bigger. Whole thing’s diameter is a whopping 16.2mm. Compared to the Freshkons/Freshlooks though, it’s definitely not as soft and possibly not as thin, but not uncomfortable personally. Anyways, i got them on impulse quite a while back from a store in KL when i was there on holiday, but I’m pretty sure you can get them from quite a number of reliable online lens stores. :)

MANGO Fall/Winter ‘11 Paris Fashion Show

Key looks from the MANGO Fall/Winter ‘11 Paris Fashion Show.

Looks to me like Mango’s caught up in the sixties trend vibe too. Longer hemlines, dresses mid thigh, shift dresses, tuxedo pants. also lots of metallics, prints, satin, glitter and blends. xx

woodstock shades bring out the granny in me

Photobucket

today:

involved a vague two hours of tossing and turning before finally giving up on sleep. proceeded to ambush mommy for a drama queen moment, pottered around my mac trying to tidy my inspiration folders, and finally after much procrastination, started to get ready, before the zip on my jumpsuit decided to file for a divorce and split into two. ventured out to the tailor’s to repair the zip on my jumpsuit, because it seemed faster than attempting to find something else equally comfortable to wear that weren’t pjs. could not be more wrong, zip took ages. hence embarked on a mad rush to get ready in time, and finally exploded out of the house, grabbing my crazy massive hat at the very last moment because it was just one of those british hat days that looked like a chance of rain. although

1) it didn’t rain and
2) hats look pretty dumb indoors.

so it might not have been the wisest option. but then again hats are always fun. hahaha.

anyways. the Triumph Audi fashion festival Show was fabulous. absolutely perfect theme that tied all the pieces together, which were individually stunning in details. add to that amazing styling and it was a winning show. can’t wait to show you guys the pictures. you can catch a quick peek from my live twitter feed yesterday! but of course BB images don’t do the outfits enough justice.

in the meantime, blog post below on the new murad hybrid dermatological makeup range!

p.s. random, watching the latest episode of glee and sue sylvester never fails to crack me up. glee addicts will know! heh.
will: “with so much going on, you know you can lean on me if you need to”
sue: (in that usual sardonic voice)”Oh, Will. you know i couldn’t lean on you. there’s so much grease in your hair i’d probably slide right off”

LOL.

Advertorial: Murad Beauty Advocates Launch + Hybrids!

Murad is an internationally well-known dermatological skincare brand for its unique philosophy and award-winning targeted products, so when they invited me down for the Murad Beauty Advocates Launch last week, I was really looking forward to it, and wasn’t disappointed by the fulfilling and lovely night they planned for everyone! (:

We all know that dermatologists provide targeted results for our skin, but with our hectic schedules and all, seeing one might not be such a viable option. That’s where Murad comes in! They’re highly targeted to different skin issues so it’s easy for all of us to get the right products right off the shelf! (YES at everyone’s all time fav Sephora too heh )

Anyways pictures! check out the range:

Introduction by Ms Mimi Gay, who’s the Brand Manager! She’s super nice, I asked her so many questions and she really gave me an in-depth concept of what Murad is all about!

And then a speech by Mr. Jeff Murad, who’s one of the founders and Dr. Murad’s son!

Hybrids

Murad also has new products, the Hybrids! and they’re mad awesome. It’s their first line of cosmetic treatments, basically, they’re 2-in-1 makeup products that improve skin health over time.

Photobucket

From left to right: Murad Skin Perfecting Primer (Matt and Dewy, sgd59 each), Murad Eye Lift Perfector(sgd59), and the Murad Eye Lift Illuminator(sgd59).

Murad Eye Lifts

Both Eye Lifts help brighten the eye area by hydrating, lifting, and depuffing! Great for skin imperfections, fine lines and wrinkles, and an uneven complexion. And clinically proven to increase firmness by 50% in 5 minutes!

Differences: The Illuminator is violet and has more brightening properties while the Perfector conceals and evens tone more, but both help minimize the appearance of dark circles.

Personal Experience: I got the chance to test out the Illuminator on my undereye area, and I definitely felt a tightening effect! Appearance is a light powdery mineral sheen that’s really reflective. Pen tip applicator for ease but I like to pat it in gently.

Murad Hybrid Primers:

The Primers help minimize the appearance of pores and create the appearance of a more even, smooth texture of skin! As a primer, you can wear it under your foundation, but some like to wear it on it’s own as well! Contains the “Adaptive Shade Technology” which means it has light enhancing minerals to make it blendable with a wide variety of skintones for a shade match without your having to select a shade, I think it’s good too if you easily tan/lighten.

Testers! Heh.

Personal Experience:
Photobucket
I compared the two primers side by side and here are the results! Comes in a creamy liquid form for you to blend (here i blended the right half and left the rest for comparison unblended) . Personally, I’ve always been a fan of the matt look, and its ability to instantly smoothen out the fine lines on my skin and reduce shine. The dewy one, of course, is to create that more glowy look, which you can see looks more apparent in the picture!

Photobucket
Murad also had a demonstration of the application of the Matt Primer!

Then time for dins!

Amazing spread of food.

Random, but check out the super cute salmon fish bowl! And the giant slice of salmon in it. omg.

After dins, there was a luck draw for three prizes and guess who won second prize! HURRAH. hahahahha mad happy, i dont usually win luck draws, and i loved what i got! Three items from the Vitalic (Pomegranate) collection, the Cleanser, the Lip hydrater, and the Moisturizer!

Overall, it was really lovely of Murad to have us down for such a lovely dinner and informative session, and for the gifts and generosity! (:

Murad is available at:

Sephora (ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City, Great World City, Marina Bay Sands)
BHG Bugis (tel: 6238-8475)

Vogue Nippon // When Punk meets Funk

For the uninitiated, Vogue Nippon is Japan’s version of Vogue, and i adore this editorial cause it incorporates so much of the trends this year with the it pieces of collections, and tie it all together with typical Japanese experimental styles. from the June 2011 issue.

Also, it features two pairs of shoes i’ve been lusting after for a while now, those balenciaga boots (first image) and the prada creepers (picture 7) in any colour, actually. heh.

desperately need: practically everything. i’d wear them differently, probably, but this is some sick awesome styling. features amazing pieces from Balenciaga, Burberry Prorsum, Comme des Garçons, Balmain, Isabel Marant, and Miu Miu.

and anja rubik, who’s one of my fav models, pulls all the looks off great. how awesome is the last pose. killer.

enjoy! ♥

i wear my sunglasses at night

complete outfit post from yesterday! heh. a little more eccentric than usual but no one was stopping me hahaha. originally i wanted to go all vivi to match the makeup and lenses, but like i said i usually have no idea how my outfits come about, so here we go!

jessebella,singapore,blogger,jaiyeinblack,myfatpocket,cross ring,fashion,street style
jessebella,singapore,blogger,jaiyeinblack,myfatpocket,cross ring,fashion,street style

i don’t usually wear printed shirts but this is so quirky it made me laugh! it’s the first thing i bought in bkk, corde and i were on our hunt for dins the first night when she went “OMG THATS SO YOU” so we had to get it. hahaha. if you cover my head you could convince yourself that the face is wearing my hat! hahaha. okayy sorry that made me laugh too.
jessebella,singapore,blogger,jaiyeinblack,myfatpocket,cross ring,fashion,street style
my other fur bag that i’ve been using for a little while now but have yet to post i think? was still considering if i needed another fur bag when bb surprised me with it! mad happy. can’t get enough of it, well lined with light grey cotton and compartments, and two different handle styles. also convinced everyone needs a maxi skirt.

heres the crazy asymmetrical sheer, lipstick printed back. personally, i still haven’t decided if i like it, it’s eccentric enough to be interesting but maybe too much. kind of reminds me of the aunty print style shirts hahaha. though i do love that it’s sheer though you can’t really tell from here!

outfit deets: shades (shown in previous post) and fur bag from asos, cut out sleeve shirt from bkk, maxi skirt from new look, shoes from aldo.

lipstick kisses all around!
